Preamble
We, the non-traditional students of the University of Wisconsin Marathon County, seek to provide an effective means by which we may promote, protect, and defend our own interests, do hereby establish this Constitution to enumerate the powers granted to us by the University of Wisconsin-Marathon County Student Association.
The name of this organization will be the Association of Non-Traditional Students at the University of Wisconsin Marathon County, hereafter known as A.N.T.S.
Section I: All
students currently enrolled at the University of Wisconsin Marathon County who
agree with the Preamble of this Constitution and believe that a change needs to
be made in the way the Student Association represents students on this campus,
shall be eligible for membership in A.N.T.S.
Section 2: All
students shall be eligible for active membership by attending one or more
business meetings and shall be eligible to vote on, any and all, A.N.T.S.
business at said meetings.
Section 3: The
duties and powers of members shall be outlined in the By-Laws of this
Constitution.
Section 4: A.N.T.S.
shall be open to membership to any student regardless of age, race, sex, or
religious affiliation.
Section 5: The
objectives of the A.N.T.S. shall include any of the following and shall be
reviewed and updated on a yearly basis as membership determines necessary:

Students who have
experienced a gap in their educational process between graduation from high
school and entering college.
¨
Students who are
parents.
¨
Students caring for
elderly parents.
¨
Students who are
employed on or off-campus.
¨
Students who have
multiple responsibilities besides school in their lives.
¨
Students who are 21
years of age or older.
In addition to all right(s) granted to them in the Constitution of the UW-Marathon County Student Association, members of A.N.T.S. shall also enjoy these rights:

The right to select and
endorse candidates for Student Association positions.
¨
The right to
democratically choose an advisor(s) from faculty & staff of UWMC.
Section 1: The A.N.T.S.
officers shall consist of a President, Vice-President, Treasurer and a Public
Relations Coordinator.
Section 2: The duties and
powers of officers shall be outlined in the By-Laws of this Constitution.
Section 3: All officers
shall be, at the time of their election and during their time in office,
members of A.N.T.S. and maintain a good academic standing, as defined in the
current UWMC catalog.
Section 4: During the first
meeting of the year, the members of A.N.T.S. shall elect, by a majority of the
vote of the members present, the following officers, who shall serve a one-year
term: Vice-President, Public Relations Coordinator, Treasurer.
Section 5: President shall
be elected at the last meeting of the year so duties include recruitment
throughout summer and beginning organization at beginning of new academic year.
Section 6: Removal of
officers shall occur when negligence in fulfilling constitutional requirements
occurs or a violation of the code of ethics has been proven according to a
majority vote of A.N.T.S. members. All
removal of officers shall follow the procedures of Student Association
guidelines.
Section 7: Vacancies of
officers shall be handled in the following way:
¨ In the case of the removal or resignation of the President,
the Vice-President shall become President for the remainder of the academic
year.
¨ In the case of the removal or resignation of the
Vice-President, Public Relations Coordinator, or Treasurer, a new one shall, by
majority vote at the next scheduled business meeting, by election to fill such
positions during the year.
A.N.T.S. will have the power to establish committees as specified in the By-laws of this Constitution.
All circumstances not covered by the A.N.T.S. Constitution and By-Laws will default to the most current version of Robert’s Rules of Order.
Amendments to this Constitution will be adopted and become effective upon the majority vote of the active members of A.N.T.S. at scheduled business meetings.
