Beta Kappa Kappa Chapter

Phi Theta Kappa has recognized academic excellence in the two-year college since 1918 and has become the largest and most prestigious honor society serving two-year colleges around the world.

Mission: "The purpose of Phi Theta Kappa shall be to recognize and encourage scholarship among two-year college students. To achieve this purpose, Phi Theta Kappa shall provide opportunity for the development of leadership and service, for an intellectual climate for exchange of ideas and ideals, for lively fellowship for scholars, and for stimulation of interest in continuing academic excellence."

Membership in Phi Theta Kappa will open new doors for your academic journey.  The organization (internationally and locally) offers an array of opportunities, including:

  • recognition items including a membership certificate and identification card, membership key pin, diploma seal, transcript notation of membership, scholarship directory, and an issue of 3.5 PLUS annual journal
  • scholarships
  • participation in local, regional, and international chapter activities
  • leadership positions at the local, regional, and international levels
  • participation in leadership development programs
  • attendance at annual conventions
  • nomination for the All-State Academic Team
  • internship opportunities across the country

Membership is based primarily upon academic achievement.  To be eligible for membership in PTK at the University of Wisconsin-Marathon County:

  • you must be enrolled at the University of Wisconsin-Marathon County
  • you must have completed at least 12 hours of university level coursework at the University of Wisconsin - Marathon County
  • you must have a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.5
  • you must enjoy full rights of citizenship in the United States
