Whether or not student read the handbook prior to their stay in Marathon Hall, students are subject to all policies and consequences stated within.
All residents are expected to comply with the following:
| University of Wisconsin System Administrative Code rules and regulations in the UW-Marathon Hall Handbook | |
| University Housing Rules and Regulations, which are printed in the contract, all residents received. | |
| Information Technology (IT) resources and policies outlined and posted in the UWMC Computer Labs. |
Changes in the rules and regulations may be made by the Hall during the term of this contract by placing notices on floor bulletin boards 48 hours before the changes become effective. If the health or safety of people using residence hall facilities may be adversely affected by any delay, implementation may be immediate.
If you are uncertain of your responsibilities or your rights under the University disciplinary procedures, please contact a Associate Residence Life Manager or the Manager of Student Services Auxiliaries.
Some behaviors and policy violations may result in DISMISSAL from University Housing ON THE FIRST OFFENSE. These behaviors include, but are not limited to:
| throwing or dropping objects such as water balloons, cans, or firecrackers out of windows | |
| possession, use, or sale of narcotics or dangerous drugs or the sale of marijuana | |
| tampering with fire equipment such as, but not limited to: fire alarms and extinguishers, and common area smoke detectors, pull-station covers and exit signs. Violations of this rule include, but are not limited to: removing a fire extinguisher from its prescribed location, fully or partially discharging a fire extinguisher for any purpose other than putting out a fire, and setting off false fire alarms | |
| setting fires | |
| assaulting/battering another person | |
| interfering with a staff member engaged in the performance of his/her duties (including, but not limited to: verbal abuse, physical intimidation or use of physical force, and the display of demeaning or humiliating visual materials) | |
| interfering with the security system, tampering with locks in student rooms and other areas, tampering with elevators, or altering or duplicating University keys. Violations of this rule include, but are not limited to: duplicating keys to give a copy to a friend or any other person or allowing a non-resident to use your Hall keys while not accompanied by you | |
| shooting off firecrackers, fireworks, firearms, or using bows and arrows or possessing knives with blades over 3 inches in length. Violations of this rule include, but are limited to: discharging or in any way attempting to discharge types of manufactured or homemade fireworks including cannons or bottle rockets in, out of, or adjacent to the residence hall | |
| harassing another community member. |
Dismissal from University Housing means that you are required to move out of the hall (usually within a week), and that you forfeit your Contract Breakage Fee. You can also expect not to be allowed in the hall/house for the remainder of the academic year and that you will not be offered a housing contract in the future.
