Instructional Specialist, Biological Sciences

Permanent Instructional Specialist in biology needed. This is a half-time,
academic year position. The Instructional Specialist provides instructional
program support to the Biological Sciences Department. This person works under
limited supervision by the department faculty and involves a high level of
interaction with them and with students. Responsibilities include: preparing
materials and equipment for all course laboratory activities; hiring, training,
and supervising an average of five student workers; maintaining and repairing
equipment; maintaining an adequate inventory of laboratory equipment and
supplies; assisting students with laboratory exercises; ordering supplies within
budget guidelines; managing the greenhouse, prep room, and animal room;
proctoring classes; and departmental clerical work. A more detailed

Bachelor’s Degree in Biology or a related field and appropriate laboratory
