Adult Student Initiative (ASI) Program Coordinator

Position Description and Duties

Position Summary:

This position is a 50% (approx 20 hours per week, Monday-Friday) that will coordinate the new Adult Student Initiative (ASI) program; this position will actually become a “one-stop” coordinator who will work closely with various personnel at UW-Marathon County and UW Colleges in coordinating the Adult Student Initiative program. The ASI Coordinator’s primary responsibilities will include the development of educational access to prospective students within the corporate and manufacturing arena of north central Wisconsin. This position will also assist with the coordination of a variety of courses for delivery to these corporate and manufacturing agencies. The ASI Coordinator will also be responsible for the recruitment/retention of participants in the ASI. Other duties will include assisting students with admissions, financial aid, testing and academic advising, and marketing and promoting the program.

Duties:

Corporate/Manufacturing Relationship (30%)


The ASI Coordinator will develop ties with various corporate and manufacturing companies who want to develop academic opportunities for    their employees. The ASI Coordinator will work closely with the UWMC Student Services Adult Outreach Coordinator/Advisor and the UW-Extension Adult Outreach Coordinator in establishing corporate and manufacturing contact and relationships.

Campus Service (30%)

The ASI Coordinator will work closely with the Assistant Campus Dean for Students Services and the Curriculum Committee in developing a curriculum based on the Adult Student Initiative program model.

The ASI Coordinator will work with various campus personnel in providing all the services students will need to be successful in the Adult Student Initiative program.

This will include:
-- working with the Admissions Specialist with placement and admissions
-- working with the Financial Aid Specialist in providing appropriate information
-- working with the Registration and Records Specialist in registering students for the AIP courses
-- working with Academic Advisors in coordinating advising information including for careers, transfer and support services
-- working with Library Services and Instructional Technology personnel in providing appropriate access and services for all participants

Recruitment and Retention (30%)

The ASI Coordinator will participate actively in the recruitment and retention of new and returning ASI students.

The ASI Coordinator will create a Strategic Enrollment Management Team, which will include the Assistant Campus Dean for Student Services, Director of University Relations, UWMC Student Services Outreach Coordinator/Advisor and UW-Extension Adult Outreach Coordinator to develop and implement a Strategic Enrollment Plan that includes marketing and promotion.

Other Responsibilities (10%)

Work with the Director of University Relations to create and perform marketing and publicity functions associated with the program.

Work with the Director of University Relations and Instructional Technology personnel to develop an ASI website.

Attend weekly staff meeting and meet with Assistant Campus Dean for Student Services as needed to discuss the ASI.

Perform other duties as assigned by Assistant Campus Dean for Student Services.

Job Qualifications:

Required:

-- Master’s degree

-- Knowledge and experience in working in the corporate/manufacturing world

-- Knowledge and experience in a University setting

-- Knowledge and skills in working with Microsoft Office

-- Excellent interpersonal skills and a strong commitment to team building

-- Ability to work with minimal direction

-- Excellent oral and written skills, including the ability to articulate clearly our ASI program.

Preferred:

-- Five years of experience in working in the corporate world

-- Experience in working with University academic or student services processes

-- Knowledge and skills in working with adult students
