Local author Thatcher and retired FBI agent Burg will read from their book about Myron (“Mike”) Muckerheide, the colorful Wausau native who staved off a 1970’s conspiracy to threaten world order through laser science. Muckerheide fought skeptics, right-wing extremists, a Wisconsin assemblyman and a Guatemalan deputy defense minister, and enlisted FBI agents to keep his knowledge from those who plotted anarchy. Ultimately, he shared his scientific wizardry with those who worked for the common good in hospitals, NASA, and research institutions.
