Tommy Rueff, an Ohio artist whose passion is to connect art with the broader community will do a residency at the University of Wisconsin-Marathon County from Sunday, October 18 through Friday, October 23.

He will work with UWMC Associate Professor of art Diana Budde to blend the work of UWMC art and English students, Merrill’s Head Start students and Wausau School District’s fourth-grade art students into a unique art exhibition in November.

In addition to the involvement of the students, members of the local model railroad clubs are giving advice, guidance, and donations of materials to the project. Tim Peterson, president of the Wisconsin Valley Railroad Club is leading this effort, and UWMC Professor of Philosophy Doug Hosler, also a Wisconsin Valley Railroad Club Member, is assisting with the train layout.

The residency will culminate in a public talk by Tommy Rueff at the opening of the exhibition, “Trainscape—Art in Motion.”

This project is sponsored by the Student University Fee Allocation Committee, and is also part of a Wisconsin Institute for Public Policy and Service fellowship that Diana Budde received from the UWMC Foundation.
