WEATHER SEQUENCE, DEC 3-6 2001
December 3-6 we saw a system bringing warm and cold fronts over Wisconsin,
along with some thunderstorms!

WEATHER SEQUENCES, DEC 7-13 2000
December 7 - 13 2000 saw three separate weather
developments.

Below, you will find an analysis of each of the events in turn, with some
overlap between each. All times are given in Universal Time (UT) on a
24-hour clock. To obtain Central Standard Time (CST ) subtract 6 hours. For
example, 1500Z translates to 9:00am CST.
1. Thurs 12/7- Sat 12/9/00
- HERE is

and Chicago. The Chicago chart in
particular illustrates the passage of a cold font very well.

2. Sat 12/9 - Mon 12/11/00
- HERE is an animation of the
surface conditions.

3. Mon 12/11 - Wed 12/13/00
This was a major storm in the lower Mid West. HERE
is a news report. The storm developed along the edge of the cold wave shown in
the previous sequence. The wave itself moved south and east, bringing cold temps
as far south as the Gulf Coast.

- HERE are met charts for
Indianapolis, Nashville, and San Antonio. The chart from Indianapolis shows
a warm front/cold front sequence. Note the temperature drop in San
Antonio!
WEATHER SEQUENCE, WED DEC 13 - THUR DEC 14, 2000.
This sequence follows from the above. Note how a low forms on the southern
edge of the cold wave we left the day before -- 'way down in the Gulf!

Wausau -- note how the system brings some higher temps to the area.
WEATHER SEQUENCE, THUR DEC 14 - SAT DEC 16, 2000
This is a sequence that is very similar to those above, although it does
feature a midnight rise in temps as winds shift to the south. Like other systems
this week, t brought some reasonably heavy snow to the area.
