This course has natural science designation. There are no
prerequisites needed to take this course. The overall objectives are to
understand basic atmospheric processes and how these generate the climate
regions of Earth and the daily weather events of mid-latitudes. The nature
and causes of climate change will also be studied.
At the end of the course you should be able to:

explain atmospheric temperatures and winds

explain cloud and precipitation forms

understand the concepts of stability and pressure

understand the weather systems that we experience in Wausau

describe and explain the major climate regions of the world

discuss the origins of the "greenhouse effect" and its recent enhancement
("global warming")

discuss ozone loss in the Stratosphere

outline and explain the evidence for climate change over the past 2 million
years ("the Ice Age")

use INTERNET to access weather and climate information
