History of Award |

| The award was established in 2007 to honor Marlys Matuszak, long-time chair of the Marathon County Democratic Party. Marlys died in January 2008. Born in Rice Lake, she lived most of her life in the Wausau area. She attended UWMC as a non-traditional student and earned her degree from UWSP. She developed a passion for politics in high school and served chair positions at the local, district and state Democratic Party level. Through this scholarship, her service to the community will continue. (Estab. 2007) |
