English 102 Learning Outcomes

Click on a learning outcome (formerly known as “proficiencies”) below to view the criteria for evaluation and the performance indicators for each. Each chart provides a breakdown: what students should be able to do after they leave English 102 (the learning outcome), how we would decide that they had achieved those skills/attained that knowledge (the criteria for evaluation), and how students would demonstrate to us (whether in class, or in papers, or whatever) that they had achieved that outcome. | |

Discussion of Assignments: descriptions of the assignments we discussed at the workshop. We've provided a brief description of what the assignment asked students to do and what proficiencies the assignment was likely to develop. Links to the full written assignments are provided.

RUBRIC
Based on the learning outcomes, criteria for evaluation, and performance indicators generated by workshop participants, we've developed a rubric for English 102 essays as well as two documents that illuminate for students the qualities upon which their writing is assessed.
