Course Description:
This course emphasizes the design process in the
development of solutions to engineering design problems.
Course topics include: the design process
(identification, ideation, testing and optimization, and
implementation and technical communication) and its
application in individual and group design projects,
engineering graphics (sectional views, dimensioning,
tolerances, vectors, graphs), and computer-aided
drafting/design (using AutoCAD LT software).
The course will help to improve the student's abilities
to evaluate and interpret information and ideas, create
multiple solutions, analyze these solutions using
scientific and mathematical methods, and then accurately
assess the strengths and weaknesses of the design. The
student will also learn to work collaboratively as part
of a team. The course will help to improve the student's
ability to write clearly, speak effectively, and be able
to respond to questions and challenges.
