Studio Classes
  


The following studio classes are excellent choices for non-art majors. They all assume no prior experience and meet the Performance requirements for the Associate degree.
These classes are required for some art majors.


  
 


   
  
 


ART 111, 2-Dimensional design
; is particularly well suited for education, architecture, and Liberal arts majors as well as any student of the humanities and social sciences. The class spends considerable time examining and applying color theory using basic models which can easily be applied throughout ones life at home or work. Some basic computer design is also taught using Adobe Illustrator and PhotoShop. No drawing or painting experience is required.

ART 112, 3-Dimensional Design; A good choice for architecture, engineering, geometry, 3-D modeling and anyone interested in spatial design, The class investigates and works directly with materials to learn how they interact. No experience is required.

 ART 101, Introduction to Drawing; also assumes no prior drawing experience although there are art majors in the class who may have had some experience. The class starts with basic line drawing and teaches the beginning student all the fundamentals of strong drawing skills. This class is a good choice for any major particularly architecture, engineering and writing based majors. It helps develope eye hand coordination and has long been considered a desirable skill for any well educated person.

 ART 153, Introduction to Ceramics; is usually comprised of half art majors and half non-majors. The class starts with basic pottery wheel throwing and teaches the beginning student all the fundamentals of clay modeling and plaster/clay moldmaking.

  
  
Lecture Classes
  


The following lecture classes are recommended choices for non-art majors. They all assume no prior art or architecture knowledge and meet the Humanities requirements for the Associate degree.
These classes may also fulfill the requirements for some art majors.


  
  


ART 187, Modern Art Survey
; is particularly well suited for helping to fulfill the Humanities credits required for most degrees. It is also applicable to the Associate degree.

  
  


ART 185, Renaissance Art Survey
; is also particularly well suited for helping to fulfill the Humanities credits required for most degrees. It too is applicable to the Associate degree. An understanding of the Renaissance and its Art is the hallmark of an educated individual.
