Admission Requirements by Student Type

NEW FRESHMAN STUDENTS

Academic Requirements
To be admitted to the UWC as a new freshman, a student must: 

1. Have graduated from a recognized high school, have a certificate of GED, or present
other evidence of ability to begin university work. 

2. Have a minimum of 17 college preparatory credits. 

Thirteen of the 17 credits must be distributed as follows: 
English: 4 credits 
Natural Science: 3 credits 
Social Science: 3 credits 
Math: 3 credits*
*including at least one credit of algebra and
the equivalent of one credit of geometry 

The remaining four credits will be from the above areas, foreign languages, fine arts,
computer science or other academic areas.

3. Take the American College Test (ACT). The ACT scores must be received by the UWC
before you will be permitted to register for classes. 

Students who fail to meet these requirements may appeal to the director of Student Services
for an exemption.   Particular consideration will be given to applicants on the basis of minority
group status, physical or learning disability, U.S. Armed Forces veteran status, age group,
incarceration, or economic or educational disadvantage.

Applicants who have special needs should contact the campus Student Services Office.

Notes:
1. High school transcripts or GED test scores/certificate, ACT scores, high school unit
breakdown required.
2. Once you are admitted, information will be mailed to you regarding placement testing,
academic advising and registration.


TRANSFER STUDENTS

Application Requirements:

-- Transcripts (see note 2)
Notes:
1. UW filing fee is required unless had paid previously at a 2-year UW College and
attended classes.
2. High school transcripts or GED test scores/certificate, all college transcripts required. 
3. Once you are admitted, information will be mailed to you regarding placement testing,
academic advising and registration. 


RETURNING AND RE-ENTRY STUDENTS

Application Requirements:

-- Transcripts (see note 1)
Notes:
1. Transcripts required if you attended a college or university other than a UW College.
2. Once you are admitted, information will be mailed to you regarding placement testing,
academic advising and registration.



INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS

Application Requirements:

-- Transcripts (see note 1)
Notes: 
1. After special students earn 6 credits, they must complete the required UW System
application, pay the filing fee and submit transcripts of high school and post secondary work. 
2. Once you are admitted, information will be mailed to you regarding placement testing,
academic advising and registration. 


HIGH SCHOOL SPECIAL STUDENTS

Application Requirements:

-- Transcripts: High school transcript and recommendation from principal

AUDITORS

Application Requirements:
